Mom's Italian Dressing

This one is always a hit.


I like everything in my salad...
including lettuce.
  • 3 lemons, squeezed
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant clear jell (optional, but thickens it)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil


  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl or dish and mix (this is important so you don't get clumps of the instant clear jell). I grind them in a mortar and pestle.
  2. I also rub the herbs between my hands to bring out the flavor.
  3. Use a garlic press to crush the garlic cloves into the lemon juice
  4. Add dry ingredients and mix immediately and thoroughly
  5. Add olive oil mix again
