On Neuroscience

"If the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn't."
- Lyall Watson

I'm currently fascinated by neuroscience. There is something fundamentally recursive about it - trying to understand the very thing we are using to understand anything in the first place. Perhaps it is a bit like looking into the mirrors at the barber shop. With one mirror in front and another in back, we are trapped in a tunnel of reflections, and the only thing keeping us from seeing the end of it is ourselves. If we ever do understand how the brain works, I think it will blow our minds.
